Monica Rubombora is an aviation and business executive, commercial leader, and author with more than twenty years of leadership experience spanning aviation, consulting, financial services, technology, and government. She currently serves as Country Manager, South Africa for Uganda Airlines and previously led the airline’s United Kingdom market on an interim basis during the launch of its London Gatwick route. Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership roles at First National Bank, Momentum, Ernst & Young, and Accenture, and also served as a Deputy Director-General in the South African public service. Across these roles, Monica has led large-scale transformation, procurement, digital modernisation, and growth initiatives across both public and private sector institutions. Her work has focused on building credible systems, strengthening organisational effectiveness, and delivering strategic results in complex environments. She is the author of several books on procurement, business, leadership, and culture, including Government Tenders (Don’t) Suck! and Bloom Where You Are Planted. Her writing draws on lived executive experience and reflects a commitment to making knowledge practical, grounded, and useful to leaders and professionals navigating demanding institutional environments. Monica lives in Johannesburg, South Africa.
