Some stories need to be written. That’s what Nan Mahon said when an elderly friend told her of a woman she had known as a child. The story was about a woman bootlegger in the early 20th Century. It became Pink Pearls and Irish Whiskey, Nan’s first novel. A journalist for many years, Nan made the transition from newsprint to fiction and has written three novels and a family anthology. She also teaches writing classes and works to bring free author events to the Elk Grove Library where she is a board member of Friends of the Library. She is a member of Capitol Crimes, the Sacramento Chapter of Sisters in Crime, is on the Elk Grove Committee for the Arts and is a commissioner for Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.
