My name is Neil Sam Samworth and I would like to welcome you to my page.
I told my story in my book, "Strangeways a Prison Officer's Story", which was in the Sunday Times Top 10 bestseller list. Since publishing my book I have been contacted by many members of the public including ex prisoners, other prison officers, paramedics and fire fighters. I have been very moved by their stories and their struggles with mental health and so I have set up this blog in the hope that I can help to support others who are having a difficult time.
As a result of my prison career and specific incidents at Strangeways my mental health suffered and I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Knowing what a struggle it has been for me to recover from my mental health issues I want to do what I can to encourage others to get the help and support that they need.
