Perry O'Brien served in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne and was honorably discharged from the Army as a conscientious objector. He worked as a labor organizer in New York hospitals before becoming a founder of Common Defense, the nation's largest grassroots organization of progressive veterans. His fiction has been featured in the war anthology "Fire and Forget," and his nonfiction has been published by The New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle. "Fire In The Blood" is his first novel.
