My name is Peter J Charles. I am a British crime and intelligence fiction author based in Winchester. I write grounded, procedural stories that have grown into modern espionage as the series develops. My work focuses on credible operations, ensemble dynamics, and the quiet decisions that shape investigations and intelligence work. I avoid melodrama and keep the tension rooted in real world detail. I began writing because I wanted crime fiction that reflected how things actually work in the real world. My background includes service in the Royal Air Force and later work in policing, including time on the Surrey Drug Squad. I use that experience to shape the authenticity of my fiction. Many elements come from real cases and operations and I ask readers decide which. I prefer a restrained tone, clean prose, and disciplined language. Readers who enjoy grounded British crime, credible surveillance, intelligence pressure, and character driven investigations are a natural fit for my books.
