Prudence Oliver is a writer, pre- and post-natal massage therapist, and former PA who aims to conjure up stories that entertain and inspire children to be brave. She strongly believes that life is one big adventure, and her stories are inspired by real-life events and fuelled by her wonderful imagination. She has been inspired to write by her own childhood experiences and her experience as a mother. The Adventures of Potato and Pebble started whilst on a family holiday to Devon, England. She was driving to the beach behind a large open top potato truck. As it went round the corner, a couple of potatoes fell off. This event inspired an immediate story to keep her daughters entertained on the drive and then subsequently they insisted on making up bedtime stories for years afterwards. This book is the first of many adventures that Potato and Pebble have. For Prudence, writing is a creative outlet, and she hopes that others will enjoy the results. What she loves most about being a writer is taking inspiration from real events. She also loves that everyone’s interpretation of a book is unique, thanks to the magical workings of each child’s imagination. She believes that it is important to have a good attitude to things in life and to be positive. Her motto is that nothing in life is impossible, but merely a case of working out how it can be done. This can-do attitude is reflected in her stories, where her characters face their problems and deal with them head-on. Her party trick is predicting Bond actors, although she regretfully reports that her only success to date is choosing Pierce Brosnan whilst watching an episode of Remington Steele when she was ten. When not writing, Prudence is kept busy with family life, keeping healthy, and renovating the odd house in need of some love and attention. She lives in London with her husband, two cats, and her three wonderful girls, who inspire her daily.
