Rachel writes as both Rachel Crowther and Rachel Hancox. She qualified as a doctor and worked in the NHS for twenty years before her first novel was published in 2011. Her most recent books are A PARTING OF THE WAYS (previously published as The Partridge and the Pelican) and THE HOUSE AT THE EDGE OF THE WOODS (as Rachel Hancox), which comes out in April 2024. Her fiction has been praised as 'a delight of a read' by Fay Weldon, 'the very best sort of fiction' by Juliet Nicolson and 'witty and empathetic' by Country Life. Rachel has five children, three scruffy dogs and a cat. When she's not writing, she spends her time singing, knitting and gardening.
