Rich has written hundreds of articles that have been published by outdoor, adventure and automotive magazines. He is the author of several books, both fiction and non-fiction, and has worked on outdoor survival video productions.
As a former Special Forces soldier, one of his primary interests is Outdoor/Urban/Disaster survival. He wrote Rich Johnson's Guide to Wilderness Survival (published by McGraw-Hill), and The Ultimate Survival Manual (published by Weldon Owen). Rich enjoys sailing. He served as an instructor for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, and he authored Rich Johnson's Guide to Trailer Boat Sailing, available at NorLightsPress. He and Becky sail their 26-foot sloop as often as possible.
