Richard Flyer is an author, community-builder, and faith-rooted cultural strategist whose work bridges spiritual insight, civic renewal, and the science of living systems. Trained as a biologist, he later drew from a lineage of spiritual and civic practice from early Christian communities to Gandhi’s village republics, Sri Lanka’s Sarvodaya movement, and the Czech Parallel Polis to articulate Symbiotic Culture, a relational framework for healing division from the grassroots up. His book, Birthing the Symbiotic Age, blends memoir, community self-help, and practical guidance to show how ordinary people can build trust, shared purpose, and moral courage in their daily lives. Rooted in the way of Jesus yet welcoming to all seekers of truth, Richard’s work invites readers to rediscover what it means to live for one another instead of against each other. He envisions a global commonwealth of communities, each cultivating local belonging, relational strength, and a shared commitment to the common good. Richard lives in Oahu with his wife, Marta.
