Riley A. Nielson was born in St. George, Utah in 1988 and grew up as the second oldest of four sons. Fascinated by mechanical things, he developed a curiosity for how things worked and always planned to be a mechanical engineer after college, but with a particular love of stories in the background. It wasn't until starting a graduate program in aerospace engineering that his desire to write outgrew his curiosity for how things worked. So, in 2015, he switched gears to pursue a career in writing fiction. His published his first short story in The Wierd Reader, a literary journal created by friends he'd met during his time in Logan, Utah. His latest work, Darknight Rebellion, is the first of a thirteen book series he's been creating since 2010, inspired by Coldplay's song "Viva La Vida."
