Robert Samuels is a Pulitzer Prize-winning staff writer at The New Yorker who focuses on politics, polarization and the changing American identity. He previously worked as an enterprise reporter at The Washington Post, writing dispatches from across the country on how the discussions in the nation’s capital affects everyday Americans. With co-author Toluse Olorunnipa, he won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize in General Non-Fiction for “His Name is George Floyd” and was a finalist for the 2022 National Book Award. His journalism has garnered Polk, Peabody and NABJ Salute to Excellence Awards, as well as finalist listings for the Livingston Award for Young Journalists and the Toner Prize for National Political Reporting. He grew up in the Bronx and resides in Washington, DC.
