Ros Barber is the author of the award-winning verse novel The Marlowe Papers, and a writer of upmarket fiction, both historical and speculative, as well as non-fiction. Her first novel in 8 years, Nothing Becoming, the childhood adventures of 18th century pirate Mary Read, is the first part of her female pirate trilogy, The Tragical History of Nothing, Books: Debut novel (in verse) The Marlowe Papers (2012) - winner of the Desmond Elliott Prize 2013 and the Author's Club Best First Novel Award 2013, long-listed for the 2013 Women's Fiction Prize. A second novel, Devotion (2015), was short-listed for the Encore Award 2015. Her collection of poems, Material (2008) was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation; the title poem features in Faber's "Poems of the Decade" and is now studied at schools the UK. Editor and co-author of 30-Second Shakespeare (UK) / Know-it-All Shakespeare (US).
