Rose Deakin was born in London in 1937. After working as a social worker she found her way, via research, into London's burgeoning world of personal computing in the early 1980s. At that time she wrote 4 books on the subject - all quite out of date now. After 20 years in the computer industry, she went to Chile and spent 15 years there living in the Andes, writing articles and features when there was time from the other pleasures of that wonderful country. She returned to England in 2014 with the project of editing the wartime letters of her mother, Frances Donaldson, who later became herself an established writer. "Frances Donaldson: a Woman's War". Rose comes from a family of writers as her grandfather was Frederick Lonsdale, one of the most successful playwrights of his day. Rose has also produced a short version of her father's wartime letters, describing his life in the Royal Engineers logistics and supplies division. It is called "Jack Donaldson: A Soldier's Letters".
