Steve Parker was born and raised in south east London, in Camberwell and Peckham. At twenty-one he joined the Metropolitan Police, and he spent the next twenty years on high-profile squads (drugs, serious crime, fraud and rape investigation) before a serious back injury got him pensioned out.

Thankfully, he was blessed with a complete lack of DIY skills, so he could legitimately swan around the house doing bugger all, all day long. With time on his hands and a deep desire never to work for anyone again, he dug out an old screenplay he'd written while still a copper and set himself the challenge of turning it into a book. It became his debut novel, 'Their Last Words', introducing Detectives Paterson & Clocks.

Nine more followed, along with the standalone thriller 'Jack Knife', all published by Joffe Books. His coppers swear, bicker, fall out with their bosses and don't always play it by the book.

His strapline says it all: Sometimes You Have To Do Wrong To Do Right.

He lives on the East Sussex coast, where the DIY remains untouched. He has, on occasion, been known to close a cupboard door.

Currently, there are ten books in the DETECTIVES PATERSON & CLOCKS series:

Book 1: THEIR LAST WORDS
Book 2: THE LOST CHILDREN
Book 3: THE BURNING MEN
Book 4: YOU CAN'T HIDE
Book 5: THEIR DYING BREATH
Book 6: CHILD BEHIND THE WALL
Book 7: HIS MOTHER'S BONES
Book 8: DEAD ON DELIVERY
Book 9: SLAUGHTERED AS THEY SLEPT
Book 10: THROWN UNDER THE BUS

DETECTIVES PATERSON & CLOCKS BOOKS 1–8 now available as a box set.
