I call myself an "accidental writer" after a rare genetic blindness came upon me suddenly in 2009, changing many things for my hopeful future. The diagnosis torpedoed every dream I had for my life and career. The painful reality of my quickly deteriorating eyesight drove me to tears daily. My Christian beliefs and everything I held dear was tested. It still is, even today. Blindness didn't mean my life was over, it just meant that some things had to change. I had to be willing to accept them, and look for new ways to live a productive life. I happened upon a national writing contest for Guideposts Magazine. This was a turning point for me. I sat down and penned what I thought was the story of my life. I proofed it to the point of sheer madness, then, I pressed the submit button. I waited and I waited. I waited some more. I prayed. I stressed. I finally gave it to God and rested. I didn't win the contest, but I did come away with a burst of confidence. I had always admired people who could write--anything--it just never occurred to me this amazing gift had been locked up inside of me dying to get out. It was during that waiting period, I knew I had crossed over to the land of no return, that of a writer. My darling husband bought me a membership on FanStory for a birthday gift. I absolutely loved it right away. I'm currently a top ranked novelist and short story writer on FanStory. What The Blind Girl Saw is my first novella, but not my last. It has won four "Story/Book of the Month" awards on FanStory in 2019 and into 2020. These awards come by way of an open vote from FanStory's reviewers and other accomplished writers. Currently, I am semi-retired as CEO of my family's custom manufacturing company. I spend my days with my husband, family, and growing as a writer. I have other works of fiction planned for 2020. My second Blind Girl Mystery is coming, as well as other FanStory favorites in two separate book collections. My love stories are very popular and I have them almost finished and ready for publication. My true life short stories will be compiled and made into a book as well, all exclusive for Kindle readers. So ... keep your eyes on the blind girl.
