I was born in 1955 in France, where my family lived. Oddly enough, just outside the original Orleans, and so it was fitting that I wound up in New Orleans in the New World. I lived in the Quarter in the mid 80s, and I've been running the streets of New Orleans since 1982. I'm not the first person to fall in love with Madame Vieux Carre, but I found that history book coverage is sparse after the end of Reconstruction. So, in 2003 I set out to write her story from 1900 up 'til 2007. Both casual readers and academics will enjoy it. It's lively, loving, (but very frank), and the sources are documented (for you in academia, it's done to a modified CMS pattern). The book was published in December 2009.
