As a successful small business owner Shannon operated commercial kitchens in two different businesses, and designed an innovative commercial kitchen concept that minimizes prepared food waste by focusing on dry and frozen ingredients. After selling his successful business 5 Star Saloon in 2016, Shannon founded a nonprofit effort to tackle food insecurity and food waste in Northern Nevada using proven entrepreneurial strategies. Shannon designed and advocates for a retail grocery concept centered on supplying pantry staples and fresh produce that can survive in identified Food Deserts, and he also developed a regional food rescue hub solution designed to safely rescue prepared meals and other vulnerable foods from landfills to meet community needs in support of nonprofit efforts.
