Sharon Kuhn Young has been an amateur writer her entire adult life and published a humorous slice of life column called Off the Cuff weekly for ten years. Her series, A Pocketful of Virtues, was born of a heartfelt desire to leave some pearls of wisdom for the new generation in her family. Her faith, along with her mother Betty, has taught her that it’s the small things we do every single day that truly matter and that character unites us more than anything divides us. Born in Buffalo, NY her family moved to Texas when she was 3 years old. The 4th of four siblings, Sharon lives and works in Houston, Texas. She spends her free time with her family, her friends whom she’s known for literally decades, and her beloved, but terribly spoiled, dog Winnie. She loves to read romance and detective fiction, beading jewelry, and having coffee or cocktails with friends. She enjoys entertaining and like all things that involve people she loves, it’s all about the fellowship and the laughter. Sharon earned her BBA from Texas A&M University and her MBA from Northeastern University in Boston. She has worked in educational publishing for over 20 years and prior to that was a political fundraiser. Ms. Young has lived in South America as a Peace Corps Volunteer, Atlanta and Washington DC over the past 40 years. She has a passion for learning about other cultures and is a volunteer ESL teacher.
