Simon Akam (@simonakam) is a British magazine journalist and author. His writing has appeared in publications including the New Yorker, the London Review of Books, The Economist's 1843 magazine, the Guardian Long Read, Outside, the New York Times, GQ and Bloomberg Businessweek. Simon’s first book, "The Changing of the Guard – the British Army since 9/11", was published in 2021 to widespread acclaim. It won the Templer First Book Prize and the Times Literary Supplement, choosing a book of the year, described "A state-of-the-nation book of resounding power, deep conviction and far-reaching significance". Simon’s second book, "Snowlines", will be published by HarperCollins in the UK and Grove Atlantic in the US. Simon also co-hosts the writing podcast Always Take Notes with Rachel Lloyd.
