Simon Bywater is a British author, former Royal Marine Commando and former police detective whose writing draws upon more than three decades of extraordinary real-life experience.

After operational military service, Simon served as a detective in Greater Manchester before a career-ending medical retirement changed the direction of his life.

He began writing more than two decades ago with Forced Out, before moving into fiction with Honourable Retribution and its sequel Payback. His later Winters Line thrillers combine military experience, intelligence, crime and contemporary political and social tensions.

Simon is also the host of the Heroes Among Us podcast and has spent many years in public service.

His novels are fiction, but the worlds behind them are grounded in experience exploring loyalty, trauma, injustice, corruption and what happens when ordinary people are pushed beyond their limits.
