Steve Ulfelder is an auto-racing entrepreneur, a former race driver, and an award-winning freelance journalist. Steve cofounded Flatout Motorsports Inc., where he remains Chief Marketing Officer. Flatout builds, sells, services and transports road-racing cars all over North America. Steve is the author of the Conway Sax mysteries, featuring a recovering alcoholic who solves mysteries for his renegade AA group. Purgatory Chasm, the series debut, was nominated for Edgar and Anthony Awards as Best First Novel of 2011. It also won that title from RT Book Reviews. The Conway Sax series has drawn comparisons to the work of Dennis Lehane, Elmore Leonard and Michael Connelly. One Mississippi, the first book in Steve’s new series featuring rookie private eye Arch Dixon and his band of misfit good (mostly) guys will debut in the fall of 2019. Look for more Arch adventures in the future—but you haven’t heard the last of Conway. As if two series weren’t enough, Steve’s first Young Adult novel, Drive It Like You Stole It, will be published in late 2019. That book draws on two of Steve’s passions: race cars and rescue greyhounds. Steve lived in Massachusetts for many years and continues to set his books there, but he’s now happy and warm in the Texas Hill Country with his wife Anne.
