At fifty eight years of age, and a little frayed around the edges, Susan Francis is an emerging Australian writer. Her debut memoir, ‘The Love that Remains’, was released in February 2020, by leading independent publisher Allen & Unwin. The book has been described as raw and honest and fearlessly written. Susan has completed a Master’s degree in Australian Literature and is a former High School English teacher. These days, Susan lives alone, in a small weatherboard house in Newcastle, with no pets except for the occasional family of magpies who regularly call in for a noisy feed. She writes full time and loves to see the world. Having lived in the United Kingdom, Spain and Indonesia, Susan hopes to travel to Timor soon, for research purposes for her next book - a crime thriller inspired by the Indonesian military’s execution of the Balibo Five.
