Hello and thank you for visiting my author page. My debut novel CROW MOON, described as a contemporary gothic thriller, is the first in a series featuring journalist Martha Strangeways, as she investigates the death of a teenage boy found with lines from a spooky poem inked on to his cold back. When another teenager goes missing, time is running out. There’s a decades old murder that no-one knows about except the one who committed it and a strange connection to Martha’s former home where her children died in a fire. As the Crow Moon rises over the community, Martha must do all she can to save her family before time runs out. Like many authors, this novel took many years to bring to readers, from the first spark of an idea written while on a writing retreat in the Scottish Highlands, to pitching early ideas at book festivals. In 2019, the idea for this book won the Pitch Perfect competition at Bloody Scotland crime fiction festival in Stirling and was shortlisted for the Capital Crime New Voices Award. It was also longlisted for the Caledonia Novel Award. A former journalist, I’m from the North-east of England and have lived in Scotland for more than 30 years. I live with my family and assorted animals in a beautiful part of Scotland where the lochs, dark forests and mountains inspire my writing.
