Tom Simpson earned his A.B. at the University of Minnesota and his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago, both in economics. Most of his professional career was spent at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, where he became a Senior Adviser working on monetary policy and financial markets. He has provided technical assistance to the central banks of Iraq, Russia, China, Afghanistan, Uganda, and elsewhere, and has represented the U.S. at the OECD in Paris. Among his contributions in Iraq were the introduction of a new currency (the New Iraqi Dinar) and advising the transformation from hyperinflation to price stability. Since 2006, he has been on the faculty of the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. In addition to two textbooks, Dr. Simpson has published numerous professional articles. He writes makes frequent presentations on the outlook. His most recent book looks at the pillars of capitalist and socialist systems from the perspective of the Bible.
