I grew up in verdant New Hampshire. At the University of New Hampshire, I was an English major with a focus on creative writing with minors in religious studies and political science. While at UNH, I took classes with Charles Simic, Mekeel McBride and Thomas Williams. After graduating over thirty years ago, I moved to sultry Houston, Texas. Recently I earned my master’s in counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria and am putting that degree to work as a high school counselor. Unashamedly a tree-huger, I feel a great responsibility to be a voice for future generations so they too may enjoy the beauty of nature. When I'm not writing, I read anything I can get my hands on, and I’m into self-punishment, as evident by twenty-two years of teaching middle school students, running multiple marathons, and now training on the hot Texas trails for my first ultra-marathon.

Tim Hemlin is the author of seven novels. His latest work is Son of a Kitchen Witch, a fast-paced young adult urban fantasy telling the story of the teenage son of a witch and how he navigates the perilous terrain of young love and high school drama, all while being hunted by a pack of hell-hounds. The Wastelanders, is a clifi-dystopian set in a future where a drop of water is more precious than gold. An elite new publisher, La Nouvelle Atlantide Press, out of New Orleans is reissuing his culinary mystery series. Set in Houston, the Neil Marshall mysteries are a series of who-done-its set in 1990s Houston. The titles are: If Wishes Were Horses, A Whisper of Rage (honored with a prestigious "Shamus Book Award" nomination), People in Glass Houses, A Catered Christmas and Dead Man’s Broth and are all currently available for the FIRST time in e-book as well as print. If Wishes Were Horses is also on Audible. His sixth, a brand new title will be released in the fall of 2017. Hemlin has won local and regional awards for his writing and in 2002 was awarded a writing grant from the Mystery Writers Association of America.

He has also published short works of fiction, most prominently in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. He is represented by Kimberley Cameron of Kimberley Cameron & Associates literary agency.
