Less than one year before it hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, rolled up my sleeves, worked hard, earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and went to work as a research scientist. Like so many others, as the economy faltered, I heard those dreaded words, “you’re no longer needed”. Now what? With the same drive and determination that led to my success at university and with industry, I launched myself into the world of business and in particular the stock market. We all need mentors.
