Henry Sledge is the son of renowned author Eugene B. Sledge, “With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa” and “China Marine.” Growing up, he witnessed firsthand the creation and lasting impact of his father’s memoir, and through their conversations about his experiences across the islands of the Pacific, Henry developed a lifelong passion for all aspects of World War II history. Henry is the author of “The Old Breed… the Complete Story Revealed” and "The Things That Remain," both companion pieces to his father’s books, and has had articles published in World War II Magazine, Valor Magazine, and Naval History Magazine. He has co-hosted and appeared as a guest on numerous programs, including The Jocko Podcast with Jocko Willink, The Art of Manliness, and The Black Rifle Coffee Podcast. He has been featured in documentaries and historical programming with HBO, Fox Nation, History Channel, and American Heroes Channel. Speaking engagements include the Society for Military History, The Citadel, the We Have Ways Festival in England, the International WWII Conference in New Orleans (2022 and 2025), the Yale Club, the National Museum of the Pacific War, and American Veterans Center in Washington, D.C. He holds a BA from Auburn University (1988) and lives with his family in Birmingham, Alabama.
