Wayne F. Perkins is the author of a new series titled: Whispers of Heroes. Wayne, along with Robin Perkins, his trusty editor and illustrator/photographer live in a log cabin high up in the mountains of Northern Arizona, not far from the Grand Canyon. Wayne's first book in the series is titled: "The Last Flight of the Daisy Mae: A Story of Heroism and Hope." The Last Flight is a true story written in a narrative non-fiction format, of eleven brave men who fight their final battle together against the Japanese in the skies over Wake Island on July 24th 1943. The book also includes stories about the brave men and women who fought the war from home, working in defense plants, growing food to feed the starving world, and delivering mail for the heroes who make it back home...alive. Wayne's first book in the Whispers of Heroes series, focuses on how these young men won the war using heroism, humor and hope. In the Beginning: Wayne Francis Perkins was born in Evergreen Park Illinois. When Wayne was 10 years old, the family moved to Lake In The Hills, Illinois where Wayne stayed until he entered into the Army on August 22, 1966.While in the Army he became a Forward Observer for the 32nd Infantry, 7th Division stationed on the DMZ in South Korea. Wayne has been a high school teacher, a musician, and a hypnotist before settling down as a writer to concentrate on the silent heroes that make it possible for us the achieve our dreams.
