For years I have voiced other peoples projects. In 2018 I'm voicing my own! Hi! I'm Wendy K Gray, an American Voiceover Actor, Singer, Songwriter, Author and Creator of Sidewalk Stories: A collection of problem-solving books, audio books, coloring books and music for kids. The "Stop Think Act" song, in every story, was awarded "Finalist" in the USA Song Writing Competition. And Sidewalk Stories How Otis Oaktree Opened His Eyes was named a 2019 "Favorite" by the New York City Big Book Award! Ten years ago, I pitched this as an animated series. After rounds of meetings, even two with Seth Macfarlane, the idea went nowhere. Defeated, I set it aside. Though very private, in 2017, I was interviewed on Ryan Drean's Producer Podcast show. I talked about my wild adventures of trying to get it made. I realized I had lost hope, the death of a dream. I had quit! I figured someday I would get back to it but "someday" was passing me by! It fueled me to invest in my dream. Which is why such a big part of Sidewalk Stories incorporates the act of "trying". It was always about problem solving. Always. Getting the Sidewalk Stories made was my problem to solve. And I am so proud of what I have accomplished. Working with the brilliant Illustrator, Kate Shannon, and co-writer Kian Ahmadian has been amazing! I could not have done it without them. A fantastic team of songwriters rounded out a perfect experience of bringing Sidewalk Stories to the world, Kate Higgins, Randy Hoffman, Barry Young and Joee Corso. Will it get made into an animated series? I hope so! Singing the Stop-Think-Act song activates the Magical ABC Sidewalk where Bethany Butterfly and friends can safely STOP, THINK up ideas to solve their problem, and ACT them out in an alternate-ending format. Each Sidewalk will unravel a path they can decide to take or not as they experience the outcomes of each possible idea. Which Sidewalk will they choose?
