À propos de cet audio

I signed away my freedom for seventy-two hours, agreeing to be hunted through a maze by fifteen masked men.

The Hallow's Hunt—the Blackwood brothers' most closely guarded secret. As an investigative journalist, I thought this was my chance to expose their criminal empire. I never expected Xavier Blackwood to know exactly who I was from the start.

"You'll be the prey," he promised, fingers tracing my collarbone. "And I will hunt you through every inch of my domain until you're mine."

Now I'm running through corridors designed for surrender, my body betraying me with every heated memory of Xavier's touch. Each dead end brings me closer to capture, submission, and becoming the prize of whoever finds me first. Worse, I've dragged my best friend into this nightmare with me.

The most terrifying realization? Part of me longs to be caught—to discover what happens when Xavier Blackwood finally has me exactly where he wants me. The Hunt begins at midnight. And Xavier Blackwood always gets what he wants.

Haunted is the first book in the Blackwood Brothers Series and it's a dark romance which has subjects that some listeners may find triggering. There will be a link to a full list of the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. This story has no cliffhanger and ends with a HEA.

Good premise and promis, poorly executed. The best friend Cora is supposed to be an adult with her own mind, but seems to walk through life like shes wearing a bulletproof vest because her daddy is the mayor. The FMC treats everybody like children who can't make their own decisions. Like shes the one responsible for everybody else's decisions. Then, when her best friend royally fucks up, potentially putting the FMCs and her own life potentially in danger by confronting who is supposed to be a very dangerous man for literally no real reason but to "go to a party", then is presented with a literal shmex contract, she signs it, again like it doesn't apply to her even though everything is spelled out clearly in it and she actually read it. Then, when it comes time to collect, its like "oh no! how could this have happened?!" At the same time, the FMC reacts like "how could I have let this happened to her?!" like she didnt literally beg her friend to not do it, spelled it out to her constantly and her friend just ignored her like she was stupid.

Further, the MMC gives no real signs of being anybody but a boy pretending to be a mafia leader. He doesn't react to the information that there's a rat in the club, let's a snooty woman child dictate that hes going to bend his own rules, and rigs the maze so much that its not actually any form of hunt, and more like a herding dog. 15 v 6 and the guys are so incompetent at hunting that he has to cheat to the point of literally trapping them in the maze so they can't run away. Honestly, lackluster in the end.

Also, the acting on the part of the male VA feels really flat and bored all the way through.

Feels like whiney kids who don't understand what a choice is.
