The darkness engulfed me, dragging me deeper into a pit of sorrow and despair. I screamed out as I felt my bonds snap and fizzle. I clutched my chest as I tried desperately to catch a breath, but the pain was soul shattering. My heart skipped a beat, and a scream tore from me as my heart fractured.
“Breathe Eraina!” I gasped as I heard a voice I never dreamt I would hear again. Kenyon! How could it be him? Arms wrapped around me and a hand clasped over my mouth, smothering my agonised screams. “You need to be quiet!” He sounded frantic as he gripped me tighter and light burst around me.I was on his lap, clutched in his arms. I could not stop the screams that tore from me. The pain of losing my mate, and my pack, was too great for me to have any control.
“Shut her up!” A woman said in a hushed tone, but my tears blurred my vision and I could not focus on her. “Bind her now! You know the rules!” She hissed, but Kenyon’s grip tightened as he pressed his hand firmer, muffling my screams more.
Can Raine find her way back home? She is about to face an enemy she never imagined. Can she calm the beast and save all the realms?
