Als der vermögende Unternehmer Flosi nach einem langen Arbeitstag nach Hause kommt, muss er feststellen, dass sein Haus durchwühlt wurde. Glas ist geborsten, das Abendessen auf dem Fußboden verteilt, und von seiner Frau Guðrún fehlt jede Spur. Eine auf dem Küchentisch hinterlassene Nachricht bestätigt Flosis Befürchtung: Guðrún wurde entführt. Wenn er nicht das geforderte hohe Lösegeld zahlt, wird seine Frau sterben.

Sonja hat sich nach London abgesetzt in der Hoffnung, ihre kriminelle Vergangenheit hinter sich zu lassen und nun endlich ein ruhiges, bürgerliches Leben führen zu können. Doch das Glück währt nicht lang: In einem unachtsamen Moment verschwindet Tómas. Sonja ist sich sicher, dass ihr Exmann dahintersteckt, und macht sich verzweifelt auf den Weg nach Reykjavík, zurück in die Welt der Kriminalität.
