À propos de cet audio

For as long as I can remember, Lachlan West has been my brother’s best friend and the love of my life. Trouble is, he kissed me four years ago and then never spoke to me again. I was doing great pretending he doesn’t exist until I was assigned to write an article about former college athletes and I learn that the sexy single-dad is my first interview. Determined to wow my editor with an amazing sportsball piece. (Have I mentioned I know nothing about sports?) I head to Ember Falls, ready to face my fears—and the man I love.

The grumpy quarterback turned fireman wants nothing to do with me or my article. Yet, somehow I persuade him to let me follow him around for a few weeks, and even if he said yes just to get rid of me, I’ll take it. But the longer I stay in his small town, the more complicated our story gets. The boundaries we set fall to the ground—along with our clothes. He holds me like I matter, touches me like I’m cherished and kisses me like he loves me. We both know I have to leave Ember Falls, and he’ll never follow—I only wish I could write a different ending to our story.

One of the book's biggest strengths is its supportive cast of characters. Whether it's Ainsley's family or Lachlan's closest friends, there’s a wonderful warmth in how they show up for each other. Their presence makes the story feel lived-in and real, elevating the emotional journey. I especially loved Lachlan’s friends. Their funny harping and relentless teasing provide some of the best lighthearted moments. Their sarcasm and playful jabs at Lachlan elevated the heavier aspects of the story.

And most importantly, the romance between Lachlan and Ainsley, was filled with longing and chemistry and kept me reading on to find out what happens next. Although I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ainsley’s naivety towards sports, Lachlan’s character made up for it.

The narration by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin delivered a great performance and only enhanced the story for me.

A great mix of emotional intesity and humour

Great first book in a new small-town series. Ainsley has loved Lachlan since she was young but never did she think he would ever return her feelings. However, the day of his mother's funeral he's been drinking and makes a move and instantly regrets it. Her heart is broken and she leaves for college, which she ends up not seeing him for the next four years. That is until her boss gives her a story to write about, A firefighter who could've gone pro playing football. She tries to avoid going back every way she can but it's her story to write.

Lachlan has recently been given the title of fire chief. He's a busy single dad and he likes his life the way it is. The last person he expects to see in his small town is the girl he could never have. These two have an attraction to each other that just doesn't go away. She's there to write his story, he doesn't want her to write a story about him. However, she works her way into his life and one thing leads to another... Yes, she lives many hours away and once she leaves it will be done. He won't let her give up on her dreams... but little does he know he and his daughter are also part of her big dream!

Brothers' best friend

Likely the funniest book of Corrine’s it had me laughing at the quick witted characters. A lighter storyline than a lot of Corrine’s books but as always a great read / listen.

Funny, sweet and a little dirty

I have been so excited to get into this series and when one of my influencer programs offered me a chance to listen to book two, I had to pick this one up! & I am so glad that I did!

This book was SO amazing. It had second chance vibes, its always been you, forced proximity, small town .. everything you could ever need in a romance.

The side characters were so much fun too, there was a lot of banter and super spicy moments. The tension between the main characters was off the charts!

I finished this one in one day, it was just that good.
