À propos de cet audio
Bastian
When life dragged me down, I assumed I’d never get back up. I never guessed that Andras—the dark magic user I was always told to fear—would not only give me a helping hand, but draw me into his arms and protect me from those who wished to harm me.
I never imagined that Andras and his “danger noodle” would be there to make me laugh, to care about me, and show me what it means to be loved. But now, the two of us have to prove to the Casters that we won’t be knocked down. Not when we don’t know who we can trust…and when there’s something darker coming for all of us.
Andras
As the hunt for the book that started all of this comes to a head, our enemies are getting closer, but so is the truth of what happened when my light magic was taken years ago. While they’ve fought to tear us apart, they’ve done nothing but draw us together as well as nearer to the truth.
I’m determined to finish this so I can get my happy ever after with the man I love and show him all of the little things he missed out in life. Oh, and so he can make me more chili.
Casting Light is the thrilling and humorous conclusion to the Shadow’s Lure duology.
©2023 Alice Winters (P)2023 Alice WintersThe snark of Andras is funny, until it comes to the romance and then it's weird. The steamy scenes aren't steamy and come off as just something the author threw in just because she had to. There isn't any real chemistry between the leads, just Andras overly flirting and Bastien blushing each time. At first it's cute but then it becomes an eye roll. Even the "emotional" scenes were only words on a page.
As the wrap up started and more of the story came out, it became more and more disappointing and so convoluted. all of a sudden there is this new theory on light casters and shades, there is a sister I don't remember them even mentioning in the first book or in the first half of the book, but all of a sudden she is a major part of the story, there is a father and radicals that are all part of the story and the hooded man gets re-identified. My only thought was "huh?" Two books of build-up and everything is set straight in a few paragraphs on one or two pages. such a let-down.
Not gonna lie, I typically avoid books by Alice Winters because the few I've read, seem to follow the same script. One lead is the gentle, logical one and the other is sarcastic, reckless but lovable, and though you might think that makes a great combo, it doesn't, because no romance manifests between the leads, we are just told that they catch feelings and then they say I love you at some point, but those moments fall seriously short of the mark, and the steamy scenes are anything but. I think she should consider a bromance or stories when the adventure takes center stage and the chemistry builds between the leads to the point where we, the readers, are longing for the couple to get together and savouring the moment if they actually connect.
Greg Boudreaux did a great job with narration, so that was a plus.
The Ending is disappointing
