great reading and a cool ant,

I don't know what it is about this reading studio but some of the series they spit out feel like movies and more the way they get sounds and effects to correspond the extra cast voices, it's brilliant, may gandolfs beard be eternally magnificent!

enjoyable get it.

I really liked this book. specifically that I could listen to it with my kids and didn't have to worry about profanity and sexual content as most lit rpg book have tons of both. its nice to find a book we can listen to as we travel as a family.

Pretty fun adventure.

Totally worth it. The story was amazing (as expected) and it was fun and funny adventure of Anthony the ant. What really knocked the whole thing out of the park was the narrator, Jeff Hays. Somehow, he became the main character and channeled a monster ant. What really impressed me was that the narrator gave a heads up when to fast forward all the stats and directed the audience right back into the action. That was rare and much appreciated option.
By the end of it, I am looking forward to pre-ordering book 2.

A new world to explore

Chrysalis is to me a new and fresh isekai story is probably the most accurate depiction of a world ruled by a game like system the different factions and lore depicted here gives me hope that Pangera could bring us a phenomenal new series of great new stories to love and enjoy. I highly recommend if you like game system world's but want something new to the genre. Fantastic début!

Very fun!

I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one at first. Really grew on me! It’s got a progression system, humour, a dungeon biome… Can’t wait for the magic system to be more fleshed out.

Soo awesome

FOR THE COLONY!!!, THE ITCHHH!!, THE ITCCHH!!,
CRUNCHING BITE.

This book was so awesome, I loved listening to this book and rinoz is truly talented. rino deserves an award or something. chrysalis is truly a masterpiece.

Jeff hays and Annie Ellicott do so good!!!, Jeff does this Australian accent that just brings out the Mc and really fits the book, I loved the voice. it was so happy and it was making me feel happy, Jeff did really good, the voices were all different and you could tell them apart. He also has a really good Australian accent, this book just shows the variety of voices Jeff and Annie have.
it's also really humorous, it's as funny as dungeon crawler carl, and this is also the only other book that's really made me laugh besides dcc.
it's so awesome listening to him dance after a victory or hearing him scream " THE ITCHH"

the Mc isn't annoying at all, he's a cool little human ant that's funny and has the weirdest personality.
there's not much side characters but they aren't bad either.
the fighting, it's so good. if you just started listening and you think there's not enough action just keep on listening, this book is like 80% fighting and action and I loved it, he dominates foes using his human intelligence and ant abilities. listening to a ant give beatdowns to people is just so cool, he also doesn't make alot of dumb decisions. maybe the dumbest one he made is telling a random person he's from another world, why would he do that? it's just common sense not to do that. so like I said he doesn't make alot of dumb decisions, meaning he makes smart decisions. he makes calculated calls and that's how he beats monsters, I also like the evolutions. listening to the evolutions and having him grow and change is just so cool.
i can also confidently say the power progression and skill progression is top tier, just listening to him get stronger and level up his body is a that in itself.

When it comes too plot it could be better, you could see that the goal of book 1 was too find his colony, he did that and after that there's nothing he's striving for. the plot isn't bad but it could be better.
the tone of the book was just downright fabulous, I was so happy listening to this book and I felt like that's what the author wanted when writing this.
the world building is also really good, I can't believe hie good it is. the dungeon world is explained well and the way the world is built is just so awesome. I didn't know what to expect when listening to this book but it certainly wasn't this.
there's also some good foreshadowing, I would say it's so good because of the narration but I like it. it's a perfect suspense giving the book something I didn't know it needed.
I also love how long this book is, 20 hours or pure awesomeness. anyone who doesn't like this book is lying or doesn't have taste, it does have its downsides but I love it.

the information about some of the ants and some other things is also true and I learned something new listening to this, when the author was writing this I felt like he was trying to make a funny book that everyone would like and love, he accomplished that task and I think that's what makes this book so good. and tiny, I really liked the dumb gorilla and if he died I'd be really mad, I care for that gorilla and he's a key part in the story. now If you're on your last credit and you don't know if you wanna get this, you should get it. the art cover can be misleading but thats it. this books funny, no he's not a dungeon core he's an ant, yes there's a lot of fighting and action and yes there are a lot of chapters. I was confused at the start of this book but after a while I got on board, so yes you're going to know what's going on in the book.

Ending conclusion is.

This book's a 5 all the way around, it's worth the credit. Jeff hays gives this book life, and it's one of the reasons I like this book, it's similar to dcc in the fact that it's funny. You're gonna want book 2 as soon as you get it because I know I will, I already know there's going to be an influx in royal road readers just because of this book.
So yea this book is awesome, and lastly.

FOR THE COLONY!!!!

Am I missing something?

I really like Jeff Hays, but what the heck is this story? After 40 chapters it’s still an ant eating caterpillars and increasing his stats. I’m bored to tears, sorry.

Repetitive, one gimmick, and weak story

I've listened to mant hours, but enough is enough. the book is very repetitive with 'being insect' and 'fighting insects' as the main theme. While this is fun for an hour, it doesn't hold up as a long story. The lack of communication, and the fighting makes it very very repetitive and more of a one-gimmick story.

Interesting story, wrong narration style

A lot of shouting in the narration and some of the classic pitfalls of litRPG with MC supposedly being smart but also acting like a 10yr old on a sugar rush. Having a character with a high INT means you have to make an effort to write him acting accordingly, it is very common in litRPG and probably hard to handle when you give hard numbers for your main characters abilities, so it becomes more obvious when your MC deviates from the established norm. Suspension of disbelief is easier when you don't get a stat sheet recited at you every few hours. IMO great universe building but still some pieces missing in the story.

Bloody antastic!!

the new monster evolution litrpg by RinoZ. I bought this because that cover demands to tell the story of its creation. Ant evolution litrpg? Yes please.

TLDR: The narration is outstanding, even more than expected, and the story has all kinds of fun elements that entertained me silly all the way to the end.

Fresh off listening to Jeff Hays crush Dungeon Crawler Carl, I was very curious to see how he handled this. The MC is an English/Australian reincarnated into a typical hive worker ant. Jeff is nailing the accent, and has really given the character a voice. The pesky, but lovable and loyal new hive ant comes across as a fun guy to have around. When he gets excited, I’m excited.

Jeff and Soundbooth Theater do an incredible job. This is already launching them to a new level of skill. It starts out with a Primus style baseline and keeps going from there, adding in a twist with the ending. My version does not have full sound effects, but that intro really set the tone. The fact that I can barely recognize Jeff's voice from his Carl persona is very impressive. The system AI is well done as well, and the personality is flowing with the mc to make me sympathetic for his adventure. I'm not sure if I've heard Annie's part yet, but regardless, it's great audio.

The story comes in with 30 million eye balls on it, so unsurprisingly, the first ten chapters are well sorted with action and how this guy is going to be a bada\*\* acid slinging, mandible chomping ant. It feels very realistic for what becoming an ant must be like, and the potential for commanding a massive ant army is going to be fun to discover. I like the foraging element and cost for leveling up his skills and gaining new ones. You really feel it. Kind of reminds me of Jez Caijio's Underverse in its vivid descriptions.

“I’d like to introduce you to what I like to call the Business District. Pow!”

🤣🤣Every time Jeff Hays says “Pow!” I wanted to high kick and laugh maniacally. I can’t get enough of this ant evolution awesomeness.

“I began to think, isn’t this going rather well?”

This line at the end of ch 71 epitomizes the feel of a good part of this book. The sarcastic, yet still sympathetic voice for our hero will carry us through many ups and downs. The low of finding out he’s evolved into a regular ol hive ant has its highs when he accesses awesome mutated abilities. “Aura mandibles, chomp!”

It sucks that he’s been resurrected into an ant body, but the journey is incredible. Perfect for fans of OP MC’s with style and a likeable demeanor.

“Hope you’re ready for this bear! Crushing bite!”
Thunk.
“Holy bristling eyebrows of the White Wizard. That is tough.”

I knew when I saw the cover that an ant evolution LitRPG would be a romp, but I didn’t expect RinoZ’s execution. It’s bloody antastic!

Feel the wrath of Anthony!

May your robes be ever gray!

Yay! for Ant-thony

I wasn't expecting much out of this audiobook but I was pleasantly surprised. I saw it several times on facebook ads and im a sucker for something different. Im leaving my comments free of spoilers so something might be vague

Pro:
The cast of this book was fantastic both Jeff and Annie did a great job at really bringing the characters to life. I don't think this book would have been near as good without Jeff's ability to channel the main characters cheeky personality

While the story somewhat involves progression their is for sure personal character goals that give purpose to progression

Speaking of progression, the progression system is unique... like if this was a game I would want to play it for the mechanics alone

The story does a lot of foreshadowing of things to come. Im looking forward to seeing how the story progresses with some of the groups in the story that are only touched on.

Cons/Additional Thoughts:
I'm going to have to wait soooo... long for the second book

I'm hoping that we see more interaction between the various groups in the next book

Fun

Anthony is a 15 year old neglected boy who once had an ant farm, died mysteriously (my guess is starvation), and is reborn as a monstrous ant in a dungeon on another world. He is always just so gung-ho, embracing his new ant life and working so hard. It’s freaking adorable. And gross, because he’s got to fight and eat the most disgusting/disturbing things to survive and evolve.
He doesn’t angst over his lot in life, he just keeps going, trying to get to his ant colony. He’s so sweet. And very much a teenager. BUT, he makes really sound decisions on his body modifications and evolutions. He got a lucky break a couple times, but he’s been smart with his strategies and future planning.
I don’t know if this new world is prepared for an ant with human levels of cunning and a teenagers will to get XP. For the Colony!!
Can’t wait to listen to the next book, though I’ll start reading it on Kindle. Jeff Hayes and Soundbooth Theater are excellent as always. Having heard Jeff’s vocal range in Dungeon Crawler Carl, I was surprised to see Annie Ellicott voicing all the female characters. She did a good job, but Jeff holds a special place in my heart from DCC.
Tl;dr: Tons of action, very little drama, lots of fun. Definitely recommend. Just keep the volume down because there’s much screaming about THE IIIITCH!!! Every time Anthony gets more bad ass.

Sooo mind numbing, rage inducing, horrible

The story would be great if it was more funny and a lot less annoying. This book could be reduced to 8 hrs
If the MC just went with the flow of things it would be soooo much better but instead he has to always be whining and bitching about something.
Total waste of a credit

Got fooled because it had my favorite narrators

This book was ridiculous and annoying, I hated how he kept going off track when he's talking to himself or anyone, and yes ants are great in fact it's hard for me to see ants as weak, because in reality ants will rip any insect or small animal apart when they swarm, but putting ants in a game setting was very boring and repetitive, and the way he speaks made me so furious and anxious, he kept getting distracted by his thoughts I had to set the speed to 1.9 just to get through most of the book, I wish I had read the description before spending my last token on it, it's stupid and I hated it.
