À propos de cet audio

A small mountain town is isolated by a snowstorm as an ancient evil, gone pandemic, turns the residents into the living dead. Almost overnight the town becomes a snowy tomb of the roaming, hungry infected.

Stranded by the weather, hiding, a small group of survivors follows the progress of the disease as society around them and around the world begins to break down.

Determined to escape, they find that the normal rules of civilization don't apply anymore. Will they be able to adapt to this strange, hungry new world?

I absolutely loved the story line and characters. I wish it was a little longer and had a bit some detail in certain places but overall it was an amazing story that kept me wanting more. I’m off to hopefully find the next book in the series!

Loved the story line!

I enjoyed this book. Almost done the second. Fun and thrilling, I was skeptical of the voice work at first, but she does a fantastic job.

Decent!

One of the better zombie stories I’ve read. I liked how the author provided a history of where the virus originated.

Good zombie story

I rarely leave reviews even when I really enjoy a book but I think this book is a hidden gem!! I love the zombie genre but many of the books I try to listen to are the same old stuff but this book had a unique take on the cause and the way the story unfolded. The narrator did a great job and I am pretty picky usually only enjoying Sean Runnette and a few others. Overall definitely take a chance on this one if you like a good apocalypse book, it is well worth a credit! I can’t wait to listen to the next one in the series!

Love the unique take on zombie origin

This L.I. Albemont story is pretty standard Zombie Horror fare: loaded with great gory imagery and creditable use of tropes (a "find missing family" plot structure and the trauma of having to face infected loved ones who turn into homicidal monsters, for example). Albemont understands the assignment..
..and her exploration of the virus's origin after a disaster in Haiti, WHO press conferences, and international responses to civilizational collapse is well-reasoned and appreciated.
Unfortunately, nothing in particular struck me as original (except, perhaps, some of the sillier strategies to survive zombie attacks like kidnapping children from orphanages and throwing them at zombie hordes to slow them down).
Overall, when not outrageously stoopid, the book is distinctly "below-average".

Sadly, reader Emily Beresford doesn't help the situation. Don't get me wrong, Beresford is a professional narrator - delivering commendable diction, cadence, and timbre.. as well as remarkably emotiveness - but her persistent overenunciation and injudicious mid-sentence deep breaths are striking. Simultaneously, Beresford's affected male voices are cartoonish and her Arabic/Asian accents are frankly god-awful.

Altogether, 'Contagion' rates 3.5 stars out of 10. You really need to set logic aside to enjoy the book - but if you can manage it, it's an unintentionally raucous laugh-out-loud bit of brain-rotting Horror-genre junk food. It was a reasonable distraction for free, but when it leaves the 'Plus' menu, you're an idiot to invest a Credit. You should spend your money on something else.

[Note: The Taliban strapping explosives to random women & girls and sending them out as human bombs against the undead (because of? misogyny? I guess?) is one of the funniest feminist agenda messages that I have ever read. Why not gays, Ms. Albemont?😜]
