Caught in the enemy crossfire, the commissar has no place to run and his nerve will be tested to the very limits.

Bring out the rest of the stories ASAP!

My favorite Commisar. The narrator(s) really bring the stories to life. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out.

Warhammer's most Heroic Coward!

I had stared at the Cain audiodramas for a few years before finally buying one. I love the Warhammer setting and I have to say I loved this story. Cain is a lazy self serving coward, but he's smart enough to know that sometimes it's in one's self interest to do what has to be done. It's just that he'll try every other option first. In a way it reminds me of Churchill's quote about America. And even though he tries everything to avoid it, when the chips are down, he is the hero people think he is. This tale starts with a bit of a mystery- some missing soldiers. And Cain reluctantly leading the search for them. His self serving style often catches people off guard, since they expect the more selfless hero. But he gets the job done. I loved the story so much I purchased his other audiodrama and his first three novels on Kindle and have already started on the third.

Wasted a credit on this "book".

Don't make the same mistake I did. This is one chapter and only an hour long. I thought it was the next book in the series, not a short primer.

Not bad

This was a nicely written short story. What I didn't appreciate were the added sound effects in the background. Some of them were okay and fit the narrative, but most were obnoxious.

Cain is Cain once again

Not bad. The voice actor sounds like he would make an exception Emperor Palpatine comfortably

Disappointing and Expensive.

-3 different Voices for the Cain, confusing and weird. -Missing the humor that made the Cain books unique -Boring story, no plottwists, no thrill. +Jürgen.

good writing, bad execution

Audio books are better when they aren't trying to be movies. a couple of speakers is fine, but can be distracting--but not a fan of sound effects in an audiobook, at all. it takes away from the scene my brain is forming from the words. Toby Longworth is usually one of my favorite 40K narrators, but the extra sounds ruined it, IMO.

not bad but not what I expected

from the title I thought it is going to be a story of being stranded or lost in see in a ship or something but what we got was island hopping and Cain adventure with another guard regiment of renown. overall it was very good but not what I expected or was hoping for

I'm a Huge Fan

Sandy Mitchell always writes Cain really well, and I enjoy his stories a lot. this story just felt a bit too short.
