Description

Someone is stalking the UCLA Medical Center - a depraved madman who is preying upon the staff, particularly those who are young and female. No stranger to the terrible ravages of senseless violence, E.R. Chief Dr. David Spier must keep the emergency room running smoothly and efficiently, even as his terrified co-workers wonder who will be the next victim. But when the monster himself is dragged into the E.R. in handcuffs - hideously burned, suffering, and begging for mercy - the nightmare is far from over...it has only just begun. A single act of humanity is about to unleash a bloody wave of horror that threatens to engulf everyone and everything Dr. Spier cares about. His most sacred oath as a healer has become a death sentence - for David Spier...and for a city under siege.

Another kick-ass adventure!!!

Gregg Hurwitz has a talent for dropping a normal, every-day type dude right into the shit.

Crazy circumstances that challenge regular people to do the extraordinary. The fight/chase/action sequences are hyper-detailed, and the characters are richly drawn and nuanced. You really feel like you get to know the people in his books, even if they only step in for a few pages (Ed was particularly entertaining in this novel). He's also very talented when it comes to snappy dialogue.

I loves me some Gregg, especially with Scott Brick narrating. Now, please excuse me.... I have to go select my next read from the shelves of Mr. Hurwitz!

Okay plot; great narration!

I was disappointed to learn this novel was published during the year 2002 and the audio version was released 16 years later. The plot is not up to Hurwitz's current standards. Scott Brick's narration is outstanding.

I look forward to the release of Book 4 of Hurwitz's Orphan X/Evan Smoak series on January 29, 2019.

Too Much Story

I tried to like this story but the author took so much time with details that I didn't feel suspense, I just felt angry and was hoping whatever was going on would be over soon. I've read other books by this author and enjoyed them, this one, I'm sorry to say was downright painful to finish. Also, while chasing the bad guy everyone responsible was acting ridiculous, the story could have been so much better. 😒 Feel like it was a wasted credit - but I was so far in I felt like I needed to finish - so glad it's over.

S M H 🙄

First the positive. The narrator did a great job! The story was disappointing. Some of the characters were very likable. But the way it was written it was missing something. There a were times, several that had me on the edge of my seat, but then fizzled out. I had to force myself to stick it out hoping it would get better.

NARRATOR ELEVATES STORY

The story "Do No Harm" tends to wander a bit during the first half but overall keeps the audiobook listener interested throughout. Scott Brick's narration was excellent, as usual.

Bailed out

I made it through about 10 hours of this book but got tired of cops and docs yelling at each other. When I gave up the plot was just beginning to be interesting but I had my fill of the characters.

Mixed Emotions...

First off, I found the "hero", Dr. David Spier, to be moronic. A good way to describe Spier would be to say he is One-Dimensional. I never grew to like him, at all. And he his on just about every page here. I know the tricks of authors: make you hate the hero, then rehabilitate him or her for the reader/listener. That trick failed for me here. I hated Dave Spier from the start and all the way through the book. I hated one of the cops investigating the criminal--at first. But in this case, the trick worked--I ended up liking the cop. I had no sympathy for the criminal, but his character was finely draw, in all his complexities. At least his character was truer to what he was than that moron, Spier. It's a good book, so definitely worth a listen, especially with Scott Brick at the helm. The man never disappoints. Just know Spier is stupid.

Not Gregg's usual fare.

I struggled to finish this one. The setting and storyline just did not grab me or keep me enthralled as I usually am with Gregg's stories.

Very interesting and human story

This was not what I expected from a thriller, no good guys with mad fighting skills chasing bad guys and saving the world. Just a doctor trying to make sense of what he knew of the world and the new reality he was faced with. Yet it was human, compelling, and filled with thought and action. I found myself compelled to keep listening.

Scott Brick is, as always, superb! He can read the phone book and I will listen.

Not my kind of hero

This is a man that runs a medical department but had no common sense and poor judgement. He sacrifice the safety of those closest to him for what? Not my kind of hero.
