Only a few weeks have passed since the Battle of Burrova, and Edward and his friends are busier than ever improving the Haunt and protecting the surviving villagers. Sadly, time is a scarce commodity in the world of Ivalis. Soon enough, Ed finds himself thrown in conflict against the man behind the mindbrood’s attack, a man who is seemingly capable of shrugging off mortal wounds and who is willing to unleash a devastating plague of undead against the Haunt and everyone inside.

When virtual reality becomes real enough that people feel as if they're being transported to another world, Valia Online arrives. A man running from his past joins the game to forget it all. Calling himself Jack Thorn, he chooses an undead race, Deathlord. A mage by choice, and a swordsman by necessity, he soon finds out that he'll need to use much more than magic and steel to survive; strategy, creativity, and carefully chosen words can often accomplish what simple attacks can't.

The necromantic armies are on the warpath and nowhere is safe—even the sanctuary of the flying dungeon has been threatened. The leadership of nearly all the sentient races has been wiped out, and only the people most suited to repelling the advancing darkness have an intact monarchy. Cal learns quickly that the primary threat is not the far-off war, but the actions of those entrusted with protecting the population.

With great corruption comes great power. Jack is pretty sure that's the way the saying goes. It's a good thing, too, for the war in Ter’nodril, which he’d hoped would spell the beginning of the end for the DIR, instead left him corrupted, body and soul. The good news is that the Fallen used the Blight that now fills his veins as a weapon in their war against the gods themselves. He’s sure that he can find a way to use it, too, to destroy Valia Online once and for all. He even knows exactly who he'll test its power against first: Manhart.

Description
The Light strives to purify the kingdom of Starevos from evil...and only Dungeon Lord Edward Wright stands in their way.
The Heroes of the Militant Church, led by Inquisitor Gallio, scour the forest in search of the Haunt, while Ed desperately attempts to uncover the secret behind the Heroes' origin. Can Ed and his friends defeat the Inquisition and secure their own place in the world, or are they destined to become the monsters of their own tale?
All over Ivalis, the portents announce blood and fire as the ancient traditions return and abominable creatures long thought forgotten stir in their tombs. Both the Dark and the Light loom hungrily over the Haunt, and only one thing is certain...
If pushed, Dungeon Lord Edward Wright will fight against them all.
Soundbooth Theater is proud to present the third book of Hugo Huesca's horror/comedy/Gamelit epic, The Wraith's Haunt. Ed's challenges keep building, and this time he has to face the Inquisition instead of a new monster. And the Incquisiton's primary weapon is Ed's old guild! Join us for the best audio production of Dungeon Lord yet, complete with a standout performance by Annie Ellicott as the various ladies and spiders of the Haunt, and a stampede...of Hell Chickens.

Good but ...
Great story, characters and narration. My biggest issue would be his first meeting with the netherworld regent. During one of the positive arcs she pulls a card that would suit him perfectly involving his friends but she gets upset and replaces it yet buddy doesn't mention it. Instead latches on to one of her choices. I didn't get that, it seemed obvious she was manipulating him yet he just goes with it like it didn't happen. The story truly is good but I'll never get used to kess's voice I see a female elf with wings as a bit softer sounding. She mentions during the book that brawn isn't her strength and she's not described as being large or overly beefy so the voice always feels wrong like an ogre. That being said that same narrator nailed the other female voices and does a great job with the spiders. All round a good book worth picking up.

I love the narrator's sound effects for great I enjoyed the sound of the water there besides some River your story at some point can't remember when so you don't hear sound effects like that and audible books I find at least very much it was nice to get some of those earthquake sounds in the story feel like it really brings the story to life early if you watching the TV shows it's not looking at the screen

jumping the shark and looking good doing it.
great book. I was discouraged after reading a few reviews for the third book but took a chance anyway. The writer did not let me down. The book has become less game more fantasy with each passing chapter and has come to not need the support of game mechanics but using them as accent marks. it's like telling a friend of an epic battle in an mmo, less a game review but an epic story. buy it, listen to it.. and beware dark pacts in darker places.

Great start, grew tedious.
I'll keep it short. I dropped this series after book 3, here's why:
- Protag makes Batman look like a mass murderer. One of my biggest peeves is artificial conflict, and a lot of the conflict in this story arises because Ed refuses to kill. Anyone. Despite how cartoonish some of his enemies are.
- The litRPG elements are an afterthought. They're barely there and in three books, I'm not feeling any sense of progression in the character's power, despite the author telling me there is.
- Objectivity, the system in this book that stops people gaming the system is a horrible concept. Don't write a litRPG and immediately constrain the gamer fantasy of everyone reading.
- Finally, I got over the light vs dark thing real fast.

Outdone again!
The story Ed Wright continues in another thrilling book. It was great to be longer than the previous two books and be full of content with minimal filler. I’ll say that the plot takes twists and turns that when surprising are great for the reader, and even when they seem obvious are highly satisfying. Looking forward to the next edition!
PS- As an audiobook listener I am thankful for the reduction in “reading the character sheet.” Those sections when the narrator reads me stats from a character sheet are hard to listen too. And this book did a good job of having less, but enough to provide meaning.
