I honestly can’t finish this book. The story is convoluted and the characters are flat and generate no emotion. The narrator does his best but this story stinks.

The person reading has very affected speech which in my mind throws off the performance and story.
The story itself does not ring true to Lee Child’s previous works.

I have read or listened to every single Reacher book, have lived every one. Recommend to lots of people in the past… but wow this one is horrible! Terrible, rambling story, characters seem to all be dumbed down. Not a single redeeming moment so far and I’d really like a refund! Lee Child, wtf?

Scott Brick did a great job as always.

I normally don’t bother writing negative reviews but this was a complete bomb. I’ve listened to nearly every Reacher novel and I had to force myself to finish listening to this one. Scott Brick’s narration was so bad I found myself getting so agitated I wanted to yell. He made the whole story, even the most mundane parts sound as if something urgent was happening. The lack of variation in his tone and cadence made it hard to get into the story, which had no depth and was very un-Reacher-esque. Maybe Dick hill could’ve put some lipstick on the pig, but I doubt it. Sorry Andrew Child, but your feet are too small for your brother’s shoes.

I can’t really specify what is off with this book. Suffice it to say that despite being a Reacher fan since the year my 29 year old son was born I couldn’t finish this. I’m not really good at saying why, but it’s a huge disappointment. Not sure if I will even consider reading the next one despite anxiously awaiting the next book in the past
