Histoire
CrossFit trainer Ben Bergeron has helped build the world's fittest athletes, but he's not like other coaches. He believes that greatness is not for the elite few; that winning is a result, not a goal; and that character, not talent, is what makes a true champion. His powerful philosophy can help anyone excel at all aspects of life. Using the dramatic competition between the top contenders at the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games® as a background, Ben explores the step-by-step process of achieving excellence and the unique set of positive character traits necessary for leveling up to world-class. The mindset and methodology that have produced some of the greatest athletes in the world's most grueling sport can work equally well for golfers, lawyers, artists, entrepreneurs - anyone who's willing to commit totally to becoming better than the best.

Cameron Hanes discovered his true passion for bowhunting when he was twenty. Inspired by the physical challenges of stalking elk in the Oregon wilderness—traversing mountainous terrain, braving erratic weather, and evading his quarry’s even more dangerous predators—he began an ever-evolving journey of self-improvement. To become the best bowhunter of wild elk, to the caliber he believed he could be, Cam realized he would need more than archery skills.

True toughness involves far more than what most of us believe and has far greater influence on our success and fulfillment than we imagine. Toughness is defined by four interdependent elements: Character - who are you and are you secure in your identity? Capability - what are you able to do? Capacity - what are you able to withstand? And commitment - what are you willing to do? Being truly tough is a genuine command over ourselves and an ever-increasing mastery of the mental, emotional, and physical elements that define us and determine the course of our lives.

Toughness has long been held as a fundamental key to achieving peak performance. For generations, we've been taught toughness means bulldozing through—pushing to the point of breakdown—and that showing any sign of weakness is failure. This model of toughness has long been glorified and celebrated. But the truth is, it doesn't work. Steve Magness, a performance scientist who coaches Olympic athletes, now offers a new kind of toughness—real toughness—that can help anyone navigate adversity. Real toughness works with our biology and psychology; fake toughness fights against them.

Description
Transform your body and mind with the definitive guide to building peak strength, endurance, and speed, from the five-time CrossFit Games champion and Fittest Man on Earth
No matter your level of fitness, no matter if you’ve never attempted CrossFit before, this book is your total training manual.
Mat Fraser is undisputedly the fittest man in CrossFit history for winning the CrossFit Games an unprecedented five times. A student of engineering, Fraser optimized his body like a machine, and his absolute dedication to the training program he designed for himself is now legendary. For years, every single decision he made was weighed against the question: "Will this help me win?" If the answer was no, he didn't do it. If it would give him even the slightest edge or advantage, he would - no matter the cost. Fraser became a master of identifying his weaknesses and then seeking out training methods to improve them, and he's idolized in the fitness community for his relentless pursuit of peak performance. It's not hard to see why he achieved so much success - but how is a different question.
Throughout his career, Fraser has been highly guarded about his specific training techniques (after all, sharing them would not help him win the CrossFit Games). But with his recent retirement from competition, Fraser is finally ready to open up about his path to the podium. HWPO reveals the workouts, training hacks, eating plans, and mental strategies that have helped make him a champion. It's an incredible resource of elite training strategies, illustrated workouts, and motivational stories, and it's a glimpse into the mind of one of the world's greatest athletes.
Includes a downloadable PDF of exercises, recipes, logs, and other HWPO tools

May Fraser Does It Again!
Just another thing May Fraser does well! This book really taps into Mat’s thoughts and gives you a glimpse into his champion mindset.
It really puts things into perspective and hits home with there is no fast or easy way to reach your goals. You need to build a consistent routine and stick to the plan. Both mentally and physically.
Reaching your goals may mean compromise on the instant joys but will lead to more lasting happiness in the end.
Great listen and would recommend to anyone!

Mat Fraser is an inspiration.
Blew through the book and would buy it again. I bookmarked many sections for future reference despite never wanting to be a competitive athlete. I’m happy doing CrossFit workouts in my home gyms three or four days a weeks and going to the local gym once a year for Murph. But I want to be healthy and I closely follow CrossFit content.
Overall, I definitely recommend the book. Great tips with personal stories. Its better written than I expected and I enjoyed the narration.

Awesome tips on how to be a better athlete, with good use of personal illustrations to help you understand. Mat is one of the best story tellers we have in this country and those were the highlights for me. I hope he writes another book just chalk full of stories.
