À propos de cet audio
Something akin to peace has come to the Underdark. The demon hordes have receded, and now the matron mothers argue over the fate of Drizzt Do'Urden. Even so, it becomes clear to one matriarch after another that while the renegade drow may come and go, Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders, will crawl forever on.
And so Drizzt is free to return to his home on the surface once again. Scores are settled as lives are cut short, yet other lives move on. For the lone drow, there is only a single final quest: a search for peace, for family, for home - for the future.
Hero picks up where Maestro left off, in a sweeping climax to an epic tale.
©2023 Wizards of the Coast LLC, TM 2023 (P)2016 Audible, Inc.When Jarlaxle says “Take great care”. I had shivers run down my spine. The performance of Victor Bevine is always amazing but this particular line by him as Jarlaxle, along with the 30+ books of character development will most likely remain one of the most powerful moments in all my literary experiences. Thank you Salvatore and Bevine for the journey you have created.
Fortunate one

In this installment of the sweeping 'Legend of Drizzt' series, however, Salvatore takes on far more mature topics than in a typical DnD story: Existential philosophical angst is a major theme, for example (is this experience reality or a demon-created illusion?). Drizzt ends up in a Taoist monastery on the recommendation of Jarlaxle seeking answers. The author also tackles demonic possession (using a horrifying Succubus as an opponent), monarchical leadership dynamics considerations (divine right, the need for an heir, etc.), and sexual relationships & actual cuckoldry. It's a bit different from what I anticipated going in.
As to presentation: This may be the best performance that I have ever heard from Victor Bevine. He's nearly flawless. His interpretation of the "odd" green-bearded Dwarf Druid "
'Pickle' is occasionally over-the-top, but all of his other voice-acting is incredible (his pitch-perfect intonation when reading Halflings, for example).
In toto, 'Hero' rates a respectable 8 stars out of 10. It's a rollicking AD&D adventure, but - while not off-putting- noticeably deeper than most Salvatore offerings. Spend the Credit.
[Note: Likely the biggest issue that I have with Salvatore's 'Drizzt' writing is that he overchoreographs combat scenes. The description is unsurpassed, mind's-eye vivid, and fed by an impressive vocabulary.. but is moment-by-moment detailed in a way that would stun a Hollywood Fight Co-ordinator. He tends to get carried away at times]
Strikingly Mature
