The book is better than the previous ones but please see my extended review.

I tried to be subjective about this book and the series as a whole. The narrator has improved considerably. Previously I commented that the series might be suitable for teen males. I take that back. There’s misogyny in the series. I’ll explain why I’ve decided to comment on it. Note that I’m not sure why the authors done this and there may be good reasons? My wife however sure doesn’t think so.
As I heard the series from the beginning and I’ve now finished book 7 something’s started to bother me as a male, husband with a teenage daughter. My wife is a councillor and I decided to let her listen to parts of the different talking books in the series. Heres her comments which I agreed with. Here’s what she pointed out: Women are objectified as playthings, there’s many instances where he has fun with the twins, having fun with a princess, having fun with other women as if there sexual objects only. There is little characterization of the women or development of them as individuals. There’s one particular instance where he wakes up and the only thing he comments on was there were four bre*** laying beside him. There are other instances, in many instances they always defer to him and there’s a lot of giggling going on. It’s like none of the woman are written in as smart or strong characters on purpose. My wife’s opinion as a female believes the theme of the book is women are not valued and are written in as simple characters. Even the AI only once, maybe twice suggests a plan of action. It’s the protagonists way of ordering the females around. After discussing this with my wife I can understand why she feels that way. Her opinion is no you male teenager should read this book because of its portrayal of women. I’m tempted to agree with her. As a man I’m also not happy with the style of writing. There you have it folks, I might get flamed for this but I feel I have to point that out. Please listen to the book and see how you feel?
Bottom line, in my opinion this book is a step up from the older books, it’s much better written although it has some serious flaws that suggest it should not be listened to by young teenagers. Also I will say again that the narrator is much better n this book.
