À propos de cet audio

An Epic Fantasy LitRPG perfect for fans of A Soldier's Life, Limitless Lands, and The Accidental Champion.

A new world of monsters and magic. A soldier in an eternal war. A champion rises.

Thrust into a new world filled with monsters and magic, Will's life has become a war for survival. He has nothing more than a class called “soldier” and a strange leveling System he’s never seen before.

When he stumbles across a dying stranger, a mysterious questline activates.

Now Will must head to the front lines where humanity wages war against a ruthless Goblin Horde. There he will join the standing Kadian Army and forge his name from the fires of legend.

He’ll have to face goblins, hordes of the undead, cultists, and demons from Hell. And that’s just before breakfast...

Enter a realm where humans battle monsters and the good die young in Iron Blooded, an epic new LitRPG Progression Fantasy. Featuring a focus on battles, leveling up, strategy, tactics, and political intrigue, it's perfect for fans of A Soldier's Life, Limitless Lands, and The Accidental Champion.

the audio performance was very well done. The only reason for 4 stars on the story itself is the overuse of certain phrases. it just got a bit repetitive but far from game breaking. I highly suggest this story.

Performance was excellent

Surprisingly good. Pacing, action, setting. Gritty but with heart. A likeable MC, a bigger world than you know, non-typical LitRPG start as well which I appreciated. It jumps right in and slowly gives you hints at how the character might have arrived. Sparring hints, but I like how it’s done. System is in place but it’s not played out too rigidly, which I appreciated, rather than where status effects play out like they are done TO you by a “computer” like system VS this book where damage is damage and healing is magic but not too magical where it becomes a mcguffin to get through a fight. It’s nice. There is peril and blood and hard fights. Yes typical RPG terms are used but they seem more introduced by the MC VS some understanding of the system. All in all it strikes a better balance than a lot of LitRPG’s around right now.

MC is definitely special, weak to strong progression is clearly evident but it’s not a skill-up type approach though skills exist. It feels more natural. A cool twist is that he’s doing all of this growing within the structure of an army, so it’s not going unnoticed which creates its own intrigues and challenges. Events are a bit like set pieces but with the benefit of moving the story along. You don’t get to the point of slogging through any one biome or area so progression all around feels satisfying and engaging. Some classical monster types are used which I think I appreciate, it lets the monsters be monsters in some cases so you aren’t being educated on a whole new type of thing, which again helps with pacing. While the monsters abilities the MC might face may not be totally explained or understood, it prevents prose and monologuing by the MC, which again is fantastic. This is first person, so you know what the character knows, and I know I say this a lot, but this is great, it means an ever expanding world without delving into painful minutia. The MC will learn, we will learn.

Finally the MC is likeable, he’s not a misanthrope (for once), he isn’t a loner, he’s the tide that will float all boats, and maybe if things go poorly, bring them back down on the rocks, which is very interesting to consider. He’s very much a good guy, but also a “do what must be done” type, practical and somewhat pragmatic, hard working but not to a fault, not selfish. He’s all about his friends and fellow soldiers. However he’s exciting as an MC because he also clearly has major things going for him, but we know not what exactly, but he grows at a pace others couldn’t. It’s a system based world, but not a ruthless cultivation one, most could never progress beyond a particular point so the majority of the people are more normal than exceptional, it’s just that people are quantified by a system that’s pretty low key from what I can gather.

Narration is good, great even. The narrator has an excellent range. Believable female voices as well which means the story, not the narrator, is front of mind while listening. I’ll be keeping an eye out for his work going forward.

Excellent Audiobook, Story, Narration.

This book gave me some warhammer vibes with the god king and the inquisition. Very well written with enjoyable characters. Looking forward to the next one.
