À propos de cet audio

Betrayed by his guild... Left for dead...
He'll become stronger than they ever imagined.

Ever since Arwin was summoned as a child, all he has known is war. And now, to claim the demon queen's life and end the war, he has to sacrifice himself. But, as he deals the final blow, the Hero of Mankind is betrayed.

Caught in a magical explosion thought to end him, Arwin awakens a month later to find that everyone has already moved on. His [Hero] class has changed to a unique blacksmith Class called [The Living Forge] that is empowered by consuming magical items, but some of his old passive [Titles] remain, giving him the power to forge his new future exactly the way he wants to.

Arwin isn't going to settle for anything less than completely surpassing the powers he wielded as the Hero.

After all, you are what you eat—and Arwin’s diet just became legendary.

I enjoyed this one, some subtle differences between a standard lit rpg. They were enjoyable. I also liked the premise a lot, since it reflected how I think people would feel after being immersed in a game or a system for too long or lacking control in their lives. Some of it was predictable. But all in all a decent audio book from my pov. Worth the price.

Really Solid First Entry

really good story. a mix of adventure, heavy emphasis on crafting and kind of but not quite slice of life.

really enjoyed it, will be picking up the next installment.

fantastic blend

Intriguing story, and on that front I want to know where this is going.

Full of logical plot holes and flaws in reasoning. One example: The thieves guild is hostile to you because you stole the dungeon key from them. Now no one can get into the dungeon but you, very clearly stated. You later run into some ash holes outside said dungeon, thieves guild members. You fight, they die in a large pool of blood. The bodies are a problem, you don't want the guild to learn of the killings or they will likely launch a full scale assault in retribution. Solution? Dungeons are always hungry, so you drag the bodies inside the dungeon to dispose of them. No one would believe the smith killed those three enforcers, hahahahahah. At least this would work if it weren't for the fact that YOUR THE ONLY ONE WITH ACCESS TO THE DUNGEON, and you left a very obvious blood trail leading within as you dragged the bodies... Ok, now imagine this sort of thing on a smaller scale, sprinkled throughout the book. I think this is the story's weakest point.

There is also a lot of damaged-oc-edgelordy-'I'm Batman' style stuff in the latter third of the book, opinions may vary.

The crafting process is handwaved quite a bit, unlike morcster chef where real cooking technique is described. Arwin takes a lot of shortcuts as his magic skills essentially allow him to skip smithing steps while making armor, work directly with entire pieces of armor thrown in the forge, and make artistic quality engravings in hot metal using nothing but his big fingers. Even organic components like scales can be forged and beaten into shape, because.. magic??

Overall 3.5 for story (and I'm a bit biased as I like DIY). Interesting premise, but could have used more editing and research. The Morcster Chef trilogy was better I think.

Intriguing but flawed

I'd say this book is 70% about smithing, materials, techniques and outcomes and about 30% story and other things.

Honestly I still kinda liked the book, it's was pretty good but the focus on smithing lost me a bit.

Very very much a book about smithing with some story sprinkled in.
