When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

Description
Overwhelmed by tragedy, a woman desperately tries to save her marriage in award-winning author Jennifer Hillier's Little Secrets, a riveting novel of psychological suspense.
"Suspenseful and compelling—Hillier is a masterful storyteller." (Chevy Stevens)
All it takes to unravel a life is one little secret....
Marin had the perfect life. Married to her college sweetheart, she owns a chain of upscale hair salons, and Derek runs his own company. They're admired in their community and are a loving family—until their world falls apart the day their son, Sebastian, is taken.
A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. The FBI search has gone cold. The publicity has faded. She and her husband rarely speak. She hires a PI to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding Sebastian, she learns that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman. This discovery sparks Marin back to life. She's lost her son; she's not about to lose her husband, too. Kenzie is an enemy with a face, which means this is a problem Marin can fix.
Permanently.

Jennifer Hillier is one of my favorite writers, and this is her best book yet." (Riley Sager, New York Times best-selling author of Lock Every Door)
"What starts as a child abduction warps into something far more twisted and nefarious, thanks to the brilliance of mastermind, Jennifer Hillier. Little Secrets will leave readers completely floored. I would like my 6-7 hours back?
I was looking forward to this new release from
Jennifer Hillier. Unfortunately, the narration had me cringing and very irritated throughout. The dripping-with-dramatics tone of voice was overkill, but worse, she mispronounces several well-known names and acronyms (ie, “Jaguar” = “JAG-YOU-IRE”, “bae” = “bye”, “Louis Vuitton” was pronounced a few different ways-even within the same CHAPTER, & more!). I highly suspected she was pronouncing Marin’s name incorrectly the whole time as well... and even THAT is inconsistent! In the intro, it is pronounced “MARE-en”, but after that is said “MARR-Inn” for the rest of the novel. Yet it is spelled “Marin”, which is most commonly pronounced like the county in California (“Mah-RINN”). And yet, it gets worse: she takes on a grating “valley girl” tone of voice for one of the young adult characters, and utilizes a terribly (and perhaps even offensive) “NJ” accent for a minor character. I found the book itself to be too drawn-out, slow, overly wordy to a fault, and repetitive in parts. The last hour or so was basically its really sole redeeming quality, IMO, and an hour’s worth of decent suspense for a full credit is far too pricey for me. I am an avid listener, but do not usually write reviews. I felt this might be a good caution to those potentially triggered or put off by the pitfalls I have described above.

This Is Oooooohhh Soooo GOOD!!!
I'm not one to gush over books but this story is entirely captivating and very well crafted. I quite literally could not stop listening! In fact, I liked this one so much I'm going to order the hard copy and read it slowly so I can savor it thoroughly much like a decadent chocolate truffle. The narration was near perfect and not a distraction (almost). I'm ordering the physical book simply because I want to be able to delve deep into the characters and their world which I find is best done - at least for me - through actually reading rather than merely listening. Even so, it was an excellent listen and well worth the credit.
I am hesitant to go into detail regarding what I liked most about this book because I don't want to be "that person" who riddles their review with spoilers so I will simply state that the suspicions that I had in the beginning turned out to be true without being revealed far too soon. Having stated that, the twist at the end was not entirely as expected which was a very pleasant and sinister surprise. I very much appreciate how the author crafted and timed this story. Very well done!
As a side note (and I almost hate to mention it but it was very distracting in the moment) the narrator - who added immeasurable value to this story, to be sure - managed to kill one critical moment in the story which would have been rather defining of a certain character's "Millennial" status in contrast to another major character had it been read properly. The word is pronounced "bay" and not "bay-EE" and I had to stop for a moment to wrap my head around what was being said by the character at the time. You'll know it when you get there! =)
Bravo to the author! 5-gazillion stars!

I am always drawn to intrigue & suspense in a book or movie. This story has very Big little secrets. The narrator becomes each person who is talking or commenting through the book. I’m a non-fiction reader. I’m easily bored with unnecessary detail . Narrator had me hooked even while describing the way someone would pour coffee. Loved it!!

More than Good!!
This was a really really good story. I had decided I wasn't reading any more books with missing, disappearing, kidnapped kids. Same old story there.......But......I listened to the sample, loved the narrator and felt the story had a different take on this, and boy am I glad I did! I haven't enjoyed a book this much for awhile. It is excellent!!
I only have one problem with it, the sex scenes weren't nessecary and could have been left out.

Kept Me Wanting More, Narration Could Be Better
Little Secrets is quite an entertaining read. I found myself wanting to listen to it whenever I had a chance. I listened to it in a day and a half, and found it to be provocative and thrilling.
A mom looks away for all of ten seconds to find her son has gone missing. She lives in a world of devastation and hope, and she goes to groups for parents of missing children to seek solace. In the meantime, her husband decides to have an affair with a much younger woman. This doesn't sit well for a mother who's young child is missing, and the other woman is going to get a lot more than she's bargained for.
The narration for Little Secrets could have been better. The reader botches some fairly regular words and it got to be a bit annoying, but nothing that really took away from the story itself. I would recommend this to people who like a good, fast paced psychological thriller.
