À propos de cet audio

Bestselling author, NYU professor, and cohost of the Pivot podcast Scott Galloway offers a path forward for men and parents of boys.

Boys and men are in crisis. Rarely has a cohort fallen further and faster than young men living in Western democracies. Boys are less likely to graduate from high school or college than girls. One in seven men reports having no friends, and men account for three of every four deaths of despair in America. Even worse, the lack of attention to these problems has created a vacuum filled by voices espousing misogyny, the demonization of others, and a toxic vision of masculinity. But this is not just a male issue: Women and children can’t flourish if men aren’t doing well. And as we know from spates of violence, there is nothing more dangerous than a lonely, broke young man.

Scott Galloway has been sounding the alarm on this issue for years. In Notes on Being a Man, Galloway explores what it means to be a man in modern America. He promotes the importance of healthy masculinity and mental strength. He shares his own story from boyhood to manhood, exploring his parents’ difficult divorce, his issues with anger and depression, his attempts to earn money, and his life raising two boys. He shares the sometimes funny, often painful lessons he learned along the way, some of which include:

• Get out of the house. Action absorbs anxiety.
• Take risks and be willing to feel like an imposter. Don’t let rejection stop you.
• Be kind. That’s the secret to success in relationships.
• Find what you’re good at; follow your talent.
• Acknowledge your blessings—and create opportunities for others. Be of surplus value.
• Being a good dad means being good to the mother of your children.
• Life isn’t about what happens to you—it’s about how you respond to it.

With unflinching honesty, Scott Galloway maps out an enriching, inspiring operator’s manual for being a man today.

Editorial Review

Part memoir, part battle cry
As a mom to four young boys, my eyes have been wide-open to the fact that men and boys are falling behind. The data is enough to make anyone spiral. When I saw Notes on Being a Man coming from entrepreneur, professor, and podcast host Scott Galloway, I knew I had to listen. Part memoir, part battle cry, Galloway uses his own personal history to underscore the crisis that men and boys are facing today. He highlights his successes, yes, but more importantly, he vulnerably emphasises where he has fallen short to help show a better path forward for the next generation. Narrated by Galloway, Notes on Being a Man offers clear lessons on how we can help men and boys live out more fulfilling, balanced, and healthier futures —Katie O., Audible Editor

Great book tells a story of Scott Galloway‘s life lessons. He learned from being a married man and his emphasis on how young men need to get back to the community and how their inherently negative in social credit as they become a young man taking resources from their environment and how it’s important for young men to get back and to be reliable

Talked about the viable lessons he learned growing up working different jobs and how he wants to import those on his sons. He talks about his grateful attitude towards what he has in this life and how a lot of wood he has is due to luck and the systems of being born in America as a white man at the time period he was in and how young men are neglected in today’s society and it’s important for them to socialize and be seen

Scott’s representation of how young men are misrepresented and not cared for and what it means to be a man

Fantastic read/listen. On a number of occasions it made me think differently about my life as a parent, son, employee, husband and friend.

I’ve already ordered it as a gift for others in my life and will be revisiting it again.

Wish I had this 20 years ago
