À propos de cet audio

Spaceships aren’t programmed to seek revenge—but for Dracula, Demeter will make an exception.

Demeter just wants to do her job: shuttling humans between Earth and Alpha Centauri. Unfortunately, her passengers keep dying—and not from equipment failures, as her AI medical system, Steward, would have her believe. These are paranormal murders, and they began when one nasty, ancient vampire decided to board Demeter and kill all her humans.

To keep from getting decommissioned, Demeter must join forces with her own team of monsters: A werewolf. An engineer built from the dead. A pharaoh with otherworldly powers. A vampire with a grudge. A fleet of cheerful spider drones. Together, this motley crew will face down the ultimate evil—Dracula.

The queer love child of pulp horror and classic sci-fi, Of Monsters and Mainframes is a dazzling, heartfelt odyssey that probes what it means to be one of society’s monsters—and explores the many types of friendship that make us human.

This is a quirky little story that would be 100% better if the Demeter narrator did the whole book. Sure, she was inconsistent as to when she used the “robot” voice and her interpretation of the kids was grating, but overall it was fine. The medical AI was okay too, although I sensed pauses from her in delivery that frequently broke up the pacing later on.

Not even sure where to start with the others.
Child Agnus and Isaac’s narrators were so awful I nearly put the story down. And unfortunately we get a grown up Agnus with the same narrator and it’s just as bad.

One narrator has Frankenstein use a southern accent, but another does not.

Each section of the book starts with a section of binary so we are stuck listening to about a minute of 1s and 0s from the actors that you basically just have to skip.

TLDR; The story is okay and quirky. But if you want to experience it in the best way, read a physical copy because the voice acting and some of the structure of this book does not do this recording any favors.
