Histoire
With her mighty wings spread wide and Ardent Blade aflame, Saint Celestine is the living embodiment of the God-Emperor’s wrath. Her halo blazes like a star upon the smog-wreathed, blood-soaked battlefields of the 41st Millennium; its holy light leading the faithful to victory time and time again. As heretics and daemons tear at her flesh, she calls down fires of retribution from on high to smite the wicked and unrighteous. If she is to fall in battle, none should mourn as she is Celestine, the Living Saint, and death is her duty.

Fell times have come to the galaxy. Cadia has fallen, destroyed by the onslaught of Chaos. A Great Rift in the warp has opened, and from its depths spew daemons and the horrors of Old Night. Roboute Guilliman has arisen to lead the Imperium out of darkness on a crusade the likes of which has not been seen since the fabled days of the Emperor. Description
A Warhammer 40,000 audio drama boxed set.
The galaxy has changed. The Imperium is divided, and a primarch has returned - and the Ecclesiarchy, the great Imperial church - is close to civil war. Only Saint Celestine -with the aid of Inquisitor Greyfax - can stand in the way of this disaster.
Listen to it because
Two of the biggest heroes of the Dark Imperium - Saint Celestine and Inquisitor Greyfax - join forces to stop one of the most important Imperial organisations from falling into civil war in an epic four-part audio saga starring none other than Catherine Tate!
The story
During the turbulent Reign of Blood, a great schism in the Imperial Ecclesiarchy threatened all of Terra and promised a darkness to rival the terrors of Old Night. Fell times have come again to the Imperium, and a War of Faith appears inevitable. Standing in the way of catastrophe is Celestine, the Living Saint and one of the greatest heroes of the age. Only she can reunite the warring factions of the Ecclesiarchy and prevent a second Reign of Blood. Together with the Inquisitor Greyfax, Celestine and her allies must hunt across the shrineworlds of the Imperium and beyond to root out the evil behind the schism and burn it out with righteous, cleansing flame.
Written by Gav Thorpe.
Performed by Cliff Chapman, Steve Conlin, Andrew Fettes, Matthew Hunt, Toby Longworth, Carla Mendonca, Richard Reed, David Sibley, Ramon Tikaram and Jo Woodcock, with Emma Gregory as Saint Celestine and Catherine Tate as Inquisitor Greyfax.

Excellent story and Performance
All my favourite characters gathered into a single novel. Action packed storyline with perfect pacing. I have found myself saying the same thing as the Inquisitor only half a second before she actually said it! Intrigue, twists and turns and even a few chuckles! The performance was stellar also. I highly recommend!

Good performances but shorter than claimed
This story of Celestine and Inquistor Greyfax is really enjoyable on the strength of the great acting of the two leads Emma Gregory and Catherine Tate, the relationship the two of them convey is really well done, and the other characters are all well done as well, the story itself is fine but nothing special, it has some good moments but overall is exactly what you expect from it.
The only thing to note though is that the story itself is only about 4 hours of the runtime and they tack on an extra hour of cast interviews at the end to make the runtime seem longer, they are fine, normal special features ask cast about the character they play non-answers that won't give you that greater of an insight into anything and nothing controversial(it was great working with everyone kind of stuff).

Wow
I didn't think that an audio drama would suit my taste.
However after listening to this I was able to imagine a movie.
Enjoyables moments:
1. Greyfax refers someone buzzing around like a ''bee' however bees do not exist outside terra
2. There was a (tee hee) nude scene.
3. Catherine Tate makes a good Greyfax.

Imagine a hormonal teenager as an Inquisitor
This is the worst 40k book I have ever read or listened to that had more potential than just Space Marines shooting and eviscerating things. I don't understand what happened, The Inquisition and Saint Celestine are some of the coolest things in the entire 40k universe. I liked Lorgar, so it can't be that Gav Thorpe, the author is to blame. The production is awful. It is not a book on tape, but more like an audio drama. The transitions are bad from scene to scene, as the background sounds distract more than augment. When Space Marines sound stiff and dumb I can tolerate it. Maybe the author is bad, maybe the progenoid glands in the Space Marine make them say inane corny things. Who knows? But this.... These are humans. Apparently, someone at BL thought, "Let's get a hyper critical, super demanding "City Girl" and make her an Inquisitor." "Amazingly someone actually agreed, "Yeah, Sex and the City in space, it's perfect." When the stupidly obvious is not being crammed down your throat, you are subjected to an Inquisitor who constantly seems to be annoyed by her own retinue and always tells them to do whatever it is they are doing, but faster. As if that were not bad enough, she even criticized the Lord she reports to for not, and I can't make this up, allowing a council member to vote on whether or not they should be assassinated. At that point, I called this one quits. There are great, believable female characters all over 40k. Ilya from White Scars and every single female in the entire 492 Horus Heresy novels comes to mind. There are a ton of great audiobooks for 40k on here, and they are a bargain over buying from the BL directly. The Lords of Silence and Dante are awesome. As are a bunch of others. Try all of them before you get this. Really bummed out that this fascinating subject was apparently written for a Seventeen magazine expose on women in space,

I was a little reluctant to spend a credit on 6 hours of audio but this production was so excellent, the story so gripping & the consequences for the Imperium so grave I have zero regrets. Not bolter porn if that's your thing, but full of action, mystery, & political intrigue.

A dive into the faith of the Imperium.
Religious fervor has always been a key element in 40k lore concerning the Imperium, and in this audio drama we get exactly what we expected from a story concerning a saint of the Imperium.
Full of intrigue, politics, and the typical: "drive me closer I want to hit them with my sword!" bluster that we have come to associate with Warhammer 40,000 this audio drama will not disappoint.
Outstanding cast; both veteran and new voices make their mark on the 40k universe and it shows - the work they put in is from enthusiasm and passion.
Let your faith in the Emperor be rewarded: let his light shine into your soul! Get this drama today!

Good story, great voice acting, still hate the audio drama format
First off, I hate audio dramas, and I particularly hate audio dramas with no narration whatsoever, and this offering did not change my opinion in the least bit. It’s like listening to a TV show without being able to actually see it, so the characters occasionally have to awkwardly voice their actions in an unnatural way just so you can have some inkling of what is happening, which is especially problematic during action scenes. I definitely would not have purchased if it was not important to the Dark Imperium storyline.
Regardless, the story itself is good, the voice actors themselves are great, and the sound effects are also very well done. Unfortunately there are a number of points where between slurred/accented/whispered words and loud background sounds effects that the audio becomes completely unintelligible no matter how loud it is.

Great acting; ok story
Black library audio consistently has great voice actors and this is no exception. Plot was a bit inconsistent though and some of the events, especially at the end, seemed a bit rushed and incoherent.

Amazing story, felt like you were in 40k.
The performance was amazing , characters were well developed and the plot was something that had a lot of weight behind it. Even the opening speech made me physically excited.
