Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits - someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom.

Histoire
After a scandalous secret turns their fairy-tale wedding into a nightmare, Rebecca "Bex" Porter and her husband, Prince Nicholas, are in self-imposed exile. The public is angry. The queen is even angrier. And the press is salivating. Cutting themselves off from friends and family and escaping the world's judgmental eyes feels like the best way to protect their fragile, all-consuming romance. But when a crisis forces the new duke and duchess back to London, the Band-Aid they'd placed over their problems starts to peel at the edges.

Minnie Cooper knows two things with certainty: that her New Year's birthday is unlucky, and that it's all because of Quinn Hamilton, a man she's never met. Their mothers gave birth to them at the same hospital just after midnight on New Year's Day, but Quinn was given the cash prize for being the first baby born in London in 1990 - and the name Minnie was meant to have, as well. With luck like that, it's no wonder each of her birthdays has been more of a disaster than the one before.

Description
A chance meeting with a handsome stranger turns into a whirlwind affair that gets everyone talking in this New York Times best seller.
Dating is the last thing on Olivia Monroe's mind when she moves to LA to start her own law firm. But when she meets a gorgeous man at a hotel bar and they spend the entire night flirting, she discovers too late that he is none other than hotshot junior Senator Max Powell. Olivia has zero interest in dating a politician, but when a cake arrives at her office with the cutest message, she can't resist - it is chocolate cake, after all.
Olivia is surprised to find that Max is sweet, funny, and noble - not just some privileged white politician, as she assumed him to be. Because of Max's high-profile job, they start seeing each other secretly, which leads to clandestine dates and silly disguises. But when they finally go public, the intense media scrutiny means people are now digging up her rocky past and criticizing her job, even her suitability as a trophy girlfriend. Olivia knows what she has with Max is something special, but is it strong enough to survive the heat of the spotlight?

Ugh
I really wanted to like this audiobook, my first from this author. But the narration was just so bad. I’m sorry to the narrator, I’m sure she’s a lovely woman but it was so flat and I really couldn’t get a sense of the male lead from it. The story was also very juvenile, a bit long winded and I honestly couldn’t understand why these two we’re together. They had no chemistry. But I could have been missing that due to the narration. And lastly, I love a strong Black female lead being a Black woman, myself. But this character kind of annoyed me with her overreactions and almost petulant responses to things. I’ll try another book by the author but I’ll definitely check to make sure it’s a different narrator.

Incredibly disappointed
Squealed when I’m saw Guillory had written another. Have LOVED the series. Read each one twice. HATED this one. No chemistry between two main characters. Saddened to see little to no mention of previous characters especially when it would have been additive. Flat narration. - horrible southern accent, indistinguishable voices. Limited love scenes which had been so well done meaningful in past. Respect what author is trying to do but this, for me, was a real miss

Narration
I will start off by saying the narrator has a wonderful voice. I have heard her on other stories and overall I enjoy hearing her read on Audible . However, for this book her voice was way to mature. I felt like Olivia’s voice and her friend/ law partners voice should have been someone a little younger. At times when Olivia and Ellie were having conversations it didn’t feel like the narrators voice went with theirs.

Can We Get a Movie?
What a beautiful love story! Once again Jasmine Guillory has captivated us with amazing characters and stories of love that we can all relate to! And Janina Edwards’ narration is the perfect ... the words really come alive and capture the emotion of these fictional people that I now feel like are old friends of mine! I would most definitely recommend!

Voice acting has improved!
I love the stories and the world that Jasmine has created. However I just find it to be a little too formulaic. But I still love listening to the stories and watching the characters develop. I wish it wasn't so predictable. The voice actor is good but I would love for her to work on distinguishing her characters just a little bit more. I love this story because they did good with having a distinction between Elie and... this it. I wish the voice actor could bring a little bit more personality to the male and female voices.
